The new Battle for Britain

BMFQ rallies British companies in UK-wide campaign

British Made for Quality is in the middle of an intensive campaign to contact, rally and enlist a whole host of UK companies, from all possible sectors of industry and production. Believing that neither the political class nor the established voices of the industrial sector, such as the CBI, are speaking up for our home producers and exporters, BMFQ has decided that a new and uncompromising campaign must be launched if our companies are to have a voice.

It is clear that despite the endless massaging of official statistics, a recession is still very much undermining our economy. The Government, which seems only too pleased to be able to bail out Eurozone countries with taxpayers' money, appears unconcerned by the plight of British manufacturers who often have to contend with anything but a level playing field. Heavy business rates, taxes, and a vast, bewildering labyrinth of legislation and restrictions (not least the Health and Safety and compensation culture) are making it very difficult for our entrepreneurs to succeed. But not only that: when a company or an industry finally throws in the towel, a great treasury of knowledge and the very tradition of workmanship which will enable us to maintain a skilled workforce, disappears. It almost seems that the politicians are happy to see young apprentices and skilled craftsmen thrown onto the dole, or reduced to the boredom and humiliation of stacking supermarket shelves. We believe that this is a betrayal of the nation. Indeed, if nobody is producing anything in Britain, where will the politicians find the taxes and revenue for their grand schemes - not to mention their duck-houses and second mortgages?! We all live on the profits of British industry.

BMFQ believes that you cannot build lasting prosperity on imports, supermarket services and shares in mobile phone companies. Only real, tangible manufactured products can sustain an economy, a fact which the German government appears to have understood. After all, Germany (despite the Europe-wide recession) still has one of the world's largest economies, and is the second-largest exporter on the planet!

In order to show British companies that there is a voice out there which is prepared to speak up for them, BMFQ has written to hundreds of industrial and manufacturing concerns, large and small, across the country. Whether the company is manufacturing garden equipment or bicycles; cars, caravans or canal-boats; chemicals or agricultural machinery; specialist foods, beers and wines; hats, coats and quality clothing; or is involved in traditional, heavy industry, BMFQ has one simple message: join us, and let's put the cause of British industry back on the political and media agenda.

Already we have spoken to numerous managing directors, chief engineers, PR people and spokesmen of every kind within all sectors. We have also written to some of the country's leading entrepreneurs and innovators. And we are hearing the same thing from everyone: just who is going to help our industries, and who cares about us? The answer is that BMFQ is the new vehicle for coordination and campaigning across the United Kingdom. Follow our website for news of the campaign, and don't forget to check this morning's post...
